WHAT IS THE DISTRICT OF EASINGTON YOUTH FORUM?
Easington Youth Forum’s ethos is for young people to have an active role in their communities, with fund-raising and commissioning powers. This was established by young people who wanted to not only have their views heard but wanted to be pro-actively involved in identifying needs and solutions to these needs
This process has really caught the young peoples enthusiasm and imagination, with many of our members having voluntarily worked with the forum for over two years. In fact the majority of young people who have now exceeded the 16 years age range still wish to be involved and we have developed a peer mentoring training package for these young so that they can share their gained knowledge and skills with younger new members.
Young people have also identified key priorities around six themes,
o Leisure and Environment, (TAKE THE BLING OR MING TEST see environment page)
o Health,
o Education and Training,
o Crime and Community Safety,
o Communication
o Strategic.
Once per year the young people from the youth forum set their priorities for each of the thematic groups. Theses priorities are based upon their experiences but are also backed up via wider youth consultation via school councils and youth surveys. These are further strengthened by information supplied to the young people via wider surveys from such as LSP data, governmental, health care and educational.
As the young people set the aims and objectives of the youth forum and identified interventions which meet there constituted outcomes; which are to
Support the voice of young people being heard
