  • Establish Easington Rangers in partnership with the Street Wardens. Looking after the environment and supporting crime reduction  
  • Positive image initiative. Promote positive images of young people via photos and stories. 
  • Provide CCTV for school transport to tackle problems with groups fooling around on buses. 
  • Liaise with media groups and other external agencies. 
  • Design Logo and tee-shirts, and smart cards for good behaviour / deeds. 
  • Investigate youth facility needs in strategic areas and implement initiatives. e.g. youth shelters, outreach workers. 
  • Establish a mobile phone safety campaign and anti-bullying measures        

Youth Opportunity Fund

The Youth Opportunity Fund and the Youth Capital Fund is provide through Durham Country Council.

The funds are managed by young people who will be supported in making decisions about the allocation of funds. they will consider applications aimed at:

  • All young people 13-19· 

  • To give young people a real voice in decision making

  • To engage disadvantaged and hard to reach young people

  • To enable young people to benefit from positive activities

  • To enable young people to enjoy sport and recreational activity

  • To encourage the personal and social development of young people

  • To improve outcomes for young people

  • To increase the well being of young people 

  • For investment in youth facilities

Help Yourselves! Award Scheme

Created by Save the Children and British Gas, the here to HELP Awards want to get young people involved in dynamic and lasting community projects.

We have over 50 Awards of up to £1,000 to give away, projects must take place between September - November 2007. We can fund projects and activities that help children and young people who are excluded and isolated as well as those living in noted areas of deprivation.

Projects must relate to one of the following themes: poverty, health, education and safety/protection. Priority will be given to communities and groups facing most disadvantage.
